Minnie has some how found herself with yet another nickname “Pippi Longstocking”. This morning I ran into the infection disease PA and she said we were running through all of our patients this morning and when we got to Madeline Doctor Haggar stopped and said “well you know Little Pippi Longstocking.” I wish you could meet Doctor Haggar because at the beginning of the week she was like a humming bird. Not staying in our room long enough to even know that she was there. Very “eccentric surgeon” like. But by the end of the weekend she was having some small talk and Minnie had her enthralled.
Now for the Plan: Minnie’s Medication has been moved to every six hours. We are starting that tonight, we will take her blood in the am. Depending on the levels and whether or not home heath care can get all of the supplies together, we maybe able to be discharged sometime tomorrow.
What is next: Minnie will be IV
on antibiotics
every 6 hours at home for the next 4-6 weeks. The antibiotic runs for 1-2 hours depending on the pump that the home company sends. Josh and I will be administrating the medication to her.
A nurse will come to the house once a week to draw labs, that will be faxed over to the ID
doctors office. If they need to make any changes in her medication they will contact the home health company who at that time will bring new medication to our house.
I will do her wound care once a day till the wound heals. I will take a photo and e-mail it to the Doctor every day so he can watch the progress.
We will be seeing the Doctors often, how often is up to them.
After the 4-6 weeks of IV
antibiotics
Minnie will then be placed on oral therapy for an undecided amount of time.
After I see the Doctors in the morning I will post again. Please pray Minnie has a good night sleep tonight. Last night she did not fall asleep till 5 am. and this was after she was throwing up.
