What did you do this weekend?

Hello There Family and friends…. Normally we began our weekend on Thursday night because Josh has Friday’s off. This Thursday I took the kiddo’s to the school science fair where they seemed to have a good time being “Free Range Children” while I took some photo’s for the school year book.  On Friday Josh went to school with the kids to be a Watch DOG. Watch DOGs is a program for men to be a present on the school campus in hopes of reducing violence in the school’s.  I will ask Josh to post more about this program…. So anyway, Y’all know how it goes, he is Man of the year because he went to spend a day at the school.  Well while he was SACRIFICING  his day I thought it was only fair that I should do the same and go down town for some much needed “retail therapy”…. I hit EVERY thrift store, EVERY boutique, EVERY cute place I thought I might get “therapy” in.  But that was not good enough.  Guess what I bought…..

That’s right nothing else “fit”.  He is so cute his name is Hemingway, The reason we named him this is because he has 8 toes on one foot and 6 on the other… Ernest Hemingway was the first known to have a cat like ours.  Still to this day living in Hemmingway’s mansion there are more like our new cat. You can read about the story here. We stayed home for the most of the weekend, we had friends over for dinner on Friday,  on Saturday we went downtown again and found a farmers market!!!!   Yahhh!!!!   They sell local veggies and meat…. Sunday We went to Church and then on the way home we stopped and had…. GLUTEN FREE AND DAIRY FREE PIZZA!!!! TEXAS IS SO AMAZING!! GOD REALLY DOES LIVE RIGHT OVER TEXAS!!! I DO BELIEVE IT!!!!!

Impact of Girls

When we moved to Vancouver I made few friends. The ones I made I will no doubt have for a lifetime.      We have always hoped to give both of our kids the most “normal” life that we can provide, this in part is letting them both play sports… last fall we put both kids in soccer, we were lucky to get a coach who at the first meeting said I have 5 girls and 2 boys I can handle this! And when we went to him to share with him about Madeline he told us about his youngest daughter who has ashama, and what they do during games to make sure she is okay.  He told Madeline at any time just raise your hand and we will get you right off the field… I was so relived and felt like her bubble was intact! The Coach’s family became our second family, really… they have 4 teenage daughters 1 tweener and 2 boys…. And a gaggle of teenage boys because of the teenage girls.      Everyone was happy, especially Madeline.  She made a big friend… Those are her favorite, big girl friends. We had a hard year last with Madeline medically, she was in and out of the hospital with infections because of her back.  The Davis Family supported us the whole year, my house was always clean when I came home.  It was like I had a fairy, and I did I had two, named Shellie and Coral.  My Dog thought that their house was hers too. Kinda sad.  Shellie always had food in my freezer each time I came home, it was amazing. The whole year, every time we had to go. And we had to all the time. She has 7 kids and she was taking care of my family too.   Madeline as she does a lot of the time when she is in the hospital, takes control of food.  She did this in a big way last year, and again the Davis family came along side.  Amanda would come and eat and encourage her to eat. What a good BIG GIRL FRIEND!!! I will never forget the way she took the time to love a little girl and show her that taking care of herself is COOL!    Shellie sent me an e-mail that was a post that Amanda wrote on her My Space. It touch my Soul… I think it will touch yours too.

A FRIEND TO REMEMBER I was at my 6year old little brothers soccer game when I met a little girl named Madeline. She is a wonderful little girl who is about the same age as my little brother, she looked so happy when she kicked that soccer ball right into the goal! This little girl touched my life so much. Madeline was born with cancer in her spine, so she had to get surgery, of course, to get rid of it. Luckily, she is now cancer free. Because of the surgery so young, she now has a bad case of scoliosis in her spin where the cancer used to be. Since that time when she was a little girl who had to get surgery on her spin, she has had about 50 surgeries on her little body in a six year time span. My mom and her mom became very good friends. She had a brother who was only a little bit older than my brother so they became good friends also. Madeline was the only girl in her family so she really wanted to hang out with some other girlsJ . So she and I hung out whenever her mom came over. She was just so cute because usually whenever she came over she would bring me a picture or painting she did. I still have the pictures she drew me on my wall. Sadly, her dad was transferred by his job to move from Vancouver to TexasL . When I had to say goodbye to that little girl, it was one of the hardest things. She wanted to invite me to her birthday party and everything. Everyone in my family was really sad that they had to move because everyone knew somebody in their family. Even though she was born with cancer and now has scoliosis, she was and still is one of the happiest little girls I have ever seen. I just wanted to say thank you to her for showing me no matter what situation you are in you can always be happy. We all love you and miss you being here!

A good friend is a connection to life – a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world.

I totally missed one of my best friend’s birthdays,
it was yesterday. She turned 30… I had her birthday down for the 14th, I can not believe that I missed it.  Meghan always remembers “special” days. Like the day we moved into the Texas house. I was sitting on my new front porch checking off the numbers as the movers moved my boxes in, and here comes the UPS guy and what does he have? Flowers not just any flowers, my favorite flowers. Sunflowers with a note saying “Welcome home”. Now Meghan was sad about us leaving Washington but she wanted to make sure that I felt “special” on my move in date.  Or lets see, the day I was moving she made me this package with some things a “floppy hat” to sit by my pool, a book about “
Audrey Hepburn” someone whom I love, a copy of “Little woman” because we both adore the story, and charms for our nun outfits that we will someday wear when we own a bed and breakfast. (That is another story) things that she has remembered about me over the course of our friendship that has grown deep and fast.

You see God had a plan… Meghan and I met at a girls fellowship day held by the church that Josh and I were going to. This Church happened to be an out reach from the church that Josh and I went to in Medford. Meghan and I made a  connection, and became fast friends. Not knowing Gods plan we hung out all the time for a year and a half, I watched her belly grow with their 5th child and I was the only one who new what the sex of the baby was, it was a secret.. Well and Gram and ….  But SHHH any way, and then one day God reveled why he gave Meg to me and me to her.
Meghan’s little boy Felix got diagnosis with leukemiaOpen in a new window and now all of that hospital training was coming into good use. And that love for my friend was stronger than ever. She had this tiny baby LULU who was just 3 months old who loved me because I prayed over her mamas belly for nine months. And because her mama felt safe with me. I got to ease the burden off Meghan and bring her kids home, and play with the baby. I know what y’all are thinking and yes I was helping Meg, not stealing the baby.

And now, Meg and I share something deep in our soul’s, I know that she understands the anguish and helplessness, then the joy and bliss all in one breath of a tiny little body.

I love you Meg, Happy Big 30 I know the road you have traveled has been long, but the imprint you are leaving behind is worth the journey.
