First I have to tell y’all how I expected Texas to be. I was just sure, so sure that it was going to be so hot here that I would never ever need a coat or pants again.  I absolutely knew without a doubt that I would never need boots or scarfs or mittens. We were going to be Texans.  So imagine my surprise when it starts getting chilly, and then a little bit more chilly. And so I stomp my way up to the attic because that is where you put the clothes you are never going to need again but you save just in case because you spent a fortune on them.  Well I only saved Josh’s because he has a JOB and well he can not go to work in shorts and flip flops and well that’s what I was going to be wearing… I was moving to Texas…
So today I broke down and let Minnie wear a coat with her oh so cute UT Cheer leading outfit and much to her happiness she found some cute mittens.  She was happy, I was shaking my head saying “I can not believe we have to wear mittens in Texas”.
It gets better though, Ty comes home from school and as most days is unpacking his backpack in the living room.. He pulls out a pair of socks and says  “I am sure glad the crossing guard told us about putting socks on are hands to keep them warm!” I asked him, “Did you stop and take your socks off?”, picturing my son on the side of the crossing guard in front of the yuppie clubhouse taking off his socks to put them on his hands to keep them warm in TEXAS of all places. But thank the heavens Ty had the sense to take a clean pair of socks with him in his back pack.  And when I asked him, “Son why didn’t  you just ask mommy to buy you some mittens?”, he said “well that would just be a waste of money.” So, good news is Ty will be able to make it through a depression, even if mommy can’t believe it is cold in Texas.
